Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (ParadeThe Last Five YearsBridges of Madison County13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!

Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?

Composed of a precocious cast, no character in 13 is older than the show's title, making it wonderful for theatre companies that feature young artists.  The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life here are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.

Classes include instruction in acting, dance, and proper vocal technique.  From learning how to audition to mastering the art of character development, our students develop the essentials of musical theatre through the process of preparing for a full-scale, Broadway style play.  Collaboration and individual skill building are woven through each class, and while not rehearsing students are working on skills that not only foster their talent, but their abilities to communicate, work with others, express themselves and build self-confidence.The production is the end result of our work, and is open to the public.  We perform at the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall in downtown Riverhead. Costumes, make-up, sets, lights, and a full house make this experience one your student will never forget!

*Classes will increase in time as we near production date.  Students should plan for extended Saturday hours beginning in late March/early April and should be available after school (4:30-7:30) Monday May 13th - Friday May 17th for technical and dress rehearsals.
