Gain confidence and have fun as you learn these all-important skills that will benefit you both on and off stage! We will beworking with songs (and a live accompanist) as well as cold readings. We are offering this workshop in a two day format (two successive Saturdays) and each student will receive individual attention.
Saturday, October 14th and Saturday, October 21st, 2017
Juniors - AGES 6-9: 10am-11:30am Fee for full workshop: $75
Our Junior class will focus on stage craft, projection (both spoken and sung), and body language. Students will be introduced to a variety of movement and relaxation exercises to help them feel comfortable onstage. We will have a few songs from which each child can choose to work with individually. Students will be taught how to sing a 16-bar selection and how to work with a live accompaniast. We will also review "cold readings" (short audition scenes) as students work in small groups.
Seniors: AGES 10-TEEN 12pm-3pm Fee for full workshop $150
Our Senior class will focus on all aspects of the audition process, and will cover a more in-depth study of self-presentation. All Seniors who register will be encouraged to bring in their own audition song (Broadway style), either a ballad or uptempo selection. We will review the different types of songs and how to choose one that best fits their vocal range and style of show for which they are auditioning (i.e. belt, legit, etc). We will have several songs available if the student does not have one they would like to work with. We will focus on the 16-bar cut, and help students select the best section of the song to highlight their strengths. We will also teach students how to work most effectively with a live accompanist. In addition, we will have each student work with cold readings, both comedic and dramatic. We will highlight song and text interpretation, as well as overall self-presentation skills.
